The Electric Drives and Power Electronics Group researches on innovative actuators. In particular:
- Methodologies of special electric machines projecting
- Innovative actuators (e.g. piezo-electrical transducers)
- Power electronics related and integrated with electric machines
- Control strategies for actuators and for sensored and sensoreless applications.
The Group develops: new strategies of preventive diagnostics in electro-mechanical systems and researches the use of innovative sensors; algorithms for the early detection of damages in electric machines (stator parts, rotor and bearings) and in power electronics (fault-tolerant architectures).
